09 Sep Off to Mammoth Lakes, CA for a Falken Tire Photoshoot.
This week is an excitingΒ time for RPG. We get the opportunity to try out the new FalkenΒ WildPeak A/T in the Eastern Sierra Mountain Range near Mammoth Lakes, CA.Β FalkenΒ Tire has long been a leader and innovator in the sport compact segment andΒ isΒ extremely happy to start their bigΒ push in the world of high performance off-road tires.
I am no stranger to the amazing grip and performanceΒ ofΒ the FalkenΒ AzenisΒ RT615Β on my past track cars.Β They offered incredible grip, great heat cycles and offered consistentΒ lap times lap after lap.Β When James of FalkenΒ tire called and said FalkenΒ will be doing a photo shoot of the WildPeakΒ A/T in Mammoth and needed a Raptor,Β I said “count me in”.Β James was kind enough to supply RPG with a set of 37″ WildPeaks.Β Β It’s nice to be able to try new products, put them through their paces and see what they have in them.
My initialΒ impressions upon receivingΒ the tires was very positive.Β They have a very nice appearanceΒ in person, lots of sipesΒ and look good and sturdy with a very stout sidewall.Β This afternoon I was able to mount them up to a set of Method Standards and finally see how they behaved in normal day-to-dayΒ driving of Southern California. After putting a few miles on them, I can say they are very comfortable, look very good on the truck and are extremelyΒ quiet.Β They balanced great, track really nice and offer a very confident feelΒ on the road.Β However, they are All/Terrains so the real test is going to come Monday and Tuesday when they get good and dirty.Β If they behave as well in the dirt as they do on the road, I can say FalkenΒ will have a bright future with the WildPeak A/T’s in the high performance off-road truck market.
